SPHEREA have a long history globally, including in the UK, providing general purpose test systems into military mission critical environments.
Supporting Challenger II
The General Purpose Digital Test and Diagnostics Facility (GPDTDF) is the UK Army's general purpose test and repair facility designed to support battlefield Digital and Analogue systems.
GPDTDF, also known as DIANA, has been deployed both as a static facility and a mobile field test station and supports a number of key platforms for the UK MOD.
The test system currently tests Challenger I & II and MSTAR (Man-Portable Surveillance and Target Acquisition Radar) for over 20 years and is currently predicted to remain in service until 2035. Other platforms that DIANA can test include: Starstreak Air Defence Missile, Lynx Helicopter, Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), AS90 Light Artillery
Helicopter Avionics Workshop
Similarly, in partnership with Selex, SPHEREA developed an ATE system for the testing and maintenance of the Merlin MK3 and MK3A Support Helicopter.
Support Helicopter Air Portable Avionics Workshop (SHAPAW) offers a deployable 2nd line test and diagnostic facility close to the aircraft at the forward operating base. This maximises availability of advanced test equipment within the field, thereby improving operational readiness.
Both Test facilities demonstrate SPHEREA’s ability to maintain and combat obsolescence for their own products over many decades, proving that a long term approach is both cost effective and viable for our customers.
